Rob has a general civil practice, including such areas as municipal law, land use, insurance defense, personal injury, and real estate law. Rob frequently appears in court, representing clients against different types of challenges. His experience as an attorney as well as a former elected official allows him to bring a beneficial perspective to helping his clients see their case and how to communicate it to others.

Rob has recently, and successfully, represented clients at the trial court and appellate court levels on business expansion, land use and land development decisions and administrative decisions.

Besides practicing law, Rob was elected to the Knoxville City Council in 2001 and reelected in 2005. He served on the City’s Audit Committee as well as the City’s Beer Board. He was term limited from office in 2009. In 2012, Rob was selected by City Council to be Special Counsel and Advisor to Knoxville City Council.

Rob serves on the pro bono committee and long range planning committee at his church and he also serves as a mentor to high school seniors in the Tennessee Achieves program. In 2009, Rob was one of thirty-five attorneys in Tennessee selected for the Tennessee Bar Association's Leadership Law initiative. He was also honored with the disABILITY Resource Center’s Community Leader Spirit of ADA Award.

In 2008, Rob was recognized by Legal Aid of East Tennessee for "Outstanding Public Service." He was also named to the Greater Knoxville Business Journal’s "40 Under 40" list of 40 business and community leaders under the age of 40.

He was honored with the Friend of Fountain City Award in 2003 and Knox Heritage's Citation for Preservation Leadership in 2001.

Rob has previously been involved in real estate development projects that have been honored with Metropolitan Planning Commission Excellence Awards, Keep Knoxville Beautiful Orchid Awards and awards from Knox Heritage. In the past he has served as an advisor to candidates for offices in Knox County, Knoxville and the Tennessee legislature.

He additionally served on the board of his former neighborhood organization for a decade and is a former board member of Knox Heritage as well as formerly serving on the City's Historic Zoning Commission and the Mayor’s Task Force on Historic Preservation.

Rob and his wife were honored by Knox Heritage for the renovation of their former 114-year-old home in the Historic Fourth & Gill Neighborhood.

Rob received three Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Tennessee and graduated cum laude from the Tulane University School of Law.

He enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth baseball and attending baseball games with his family.
